The Festival of Light is, for people of the Jewish faith, an annual celebration of light, of small joys and miracles, of family and remembrance. With winter’s short days and long nights, we can all appreciate the importance of finding light in the darkness. Like last month’s focus on self-care, we here at Bliss acknowledge that the ways in which we each find that light vary, and that each person or family may have their own way of shining and celebrating their light. We wanted to share this article about some different ways in which some folks chose to celebrate Hanukkah last year. We encourage whatever form it might take for you, be it music and play or volunteerism and activism. Perhaps it is a time devoted to healing, or to unwinding, to community or family or taking time for yourself.
Whatever it takes to nourish the light inside of yourself so that you can shine brightly against the darkness.
