The traditional New Year’s Eve mascot duo is the new year’s Baby and the past year’s old man, but we like this duo of Oko and Tao better!
With 2020 nearly over, feelings of relief and anticipation are bubbling to the surface like the champagne that many of us will drink in our pajamas at home this year. It was a brutal year for many and the scars will be with us for a long time to come, but our resilience has sustained us and will propel us forward as hope begins to flower again.
The relationship between Tao and Oko is a special one that we as viewers and followers can connect to our own lives: are we the young, loving, energetic Oko, standing ready to be of service to our loved ones and community? Are we the steady, trusting, wise Tao, accepting the help that we need with grace while knowing we have much to give in return? Or are we a mixture of both at different times and in different circumstances?
There are no wrong answers to this question. We hope that 2021 brings you opportunities to be both Tao & Oko.
