“There is nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.” – Bob Ross
We have been told since we were young that planting trees is one of the best ways to help keep our planet healthy. Well, our friends in India have taken this notion into their hearts and put it into action! From 2020 to 2022, the forests in India have actually grown by 2,261 square kilometers. This number even includes trees felled in India, which means that they had more trees planted than felled!
There is even a city, Piplantri in Rajasthan, that plants 111 trees for every girl born in the city. That’s quite the effort when you think about how much time it sometimes takes to just re-pot plants in our own backyard!
The strength of community energy when focused on a project like this is something that we should all take to heart. One person trying to plant all those trees would be insurmountable, but by leveraging the power of communal effort, the people of India have pulled off an amazing feat. The next time that you are wondering how you will accomplish a large task, call your friends, plant a tree and see where it grows from there.
