As summer begins in earnest and lockdown restrictions give way to cautious optimism, it’s more important than ever to let yourself relish the moment. After an intense year of instability, it can be difficult to feel relaxed enough to experience happiness. Like the delightful doggie above, find ways to be present in the moment and temporarily release worries about the future and angst about the past.
That can be easier said than done, but a good place to start is small acts of mindfulness. Pay attention to your breath, to your body, to your emotional state. Take stock and observe without judgment.
Escape to nature, and if that isn’t an option, find a way to connect with another living creature: a pet, a plant, a neighbor, whatever/ whoever is available to you. And remember that these Moments of Bliss are available to you anytime you need a smile.
