Charity streams are bringing in big bucks for the organizations that participate, as seen with Jingle Jam 2022 raising over $4M for 12 wonderful charities, including Dogs for Autism.
We’ve written before about the power of gamers and streamers to raise money for charity with their community in our post Going Beyond The Call of Duty, and we can see that the trend isn’t going away anytime soon. In fact, we believe this telethon-meets-P2P is here to stay!
The Jingle Jam first started in 2011 when some Youtube stars asked their followers to donate to the charity OxFam instead of giving them gifts. The result was over $100,000! It has since morphed into a 2 week annual bonanza of content featuring that has raised over $25M to date!
In addition to the content, donors over a certain level were sent a curated collection of videogames that were donated by game developers called the Jingle Jams Games Collection. Video games are a huge, multi-billion dollar global industry and the fact that many of the folks involved want to support nonprofits is a very positive development. We can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
