Once again, we’re writing about charity streams, because we literally cannot get enough. This week’s Moment of Bliss is all about Heart Month 2023!

February is officially Heart Month, and the American Heart Association‘s streaming program Heart Liive is hosting a Fundraising Event over on Tiltify that includes 111 different campaigns! They have a collective goal of raising $100k by the end of the month and, as of this writing, they are over 2/3 of the way there!

If you aren’t familiar with the phenomenon of livestreaming and fundraising, you can read some of our previous posts like A Wish To Build A Stream On and Going Above The Call of Duty in which we explore the topic. The cliff notes go like this: people go live while doing an activity on platforms like Twitch, YouTube, TikTok and others, and viewers tune in to watch. Early streamers were by and large gamers, but these days people stream themselves making art and music, cooking food, talking about science and technology or even Just Chatting. A charity stream is when the streamer dedicates time to fundraising for a cause or charity, often using another platform for the actual donations (like Tiltify).

Sometimes a streamer will decide to fundraise, pick the nonprofit and just go for it. Other times, savvy orgs like Project HOPE and the Starlight Foundation create their own campaign or event and then recruit streamers to participate. The most successful of these campaigns have a dedicated staff member- a Charity Stream Manager- or a small team to engage with a healthy mix of larger streamers and small streamers. Another thing they have in common is that they offer support to the streamers in the form of digital assets, talking points and social media engagement. Some of them even send the streamers activities to do on their stream and/ or gift rewards after the campaign ends.

It’s Peer to Peer for the 21st century, and we at Bliss Auctions see so much potential for our nonprofit partners. If this is something that interests you, please reach out!
