A community’s support of a talented and imaginative young writer is exactly the kind of love the world needs more of today.
8-year-old Dillion Helbig lives in Boise, Idaho with his family who have always encouraged him in his many creative pursuits. He decided to share one of his storybooks with his local community by sneaking it into the Lake Hazel branch of the library and onto the shelves.
Dillion covered the spine of the 81-page hardback book, titled The Adventures of Dillon Helbig’s Crismis, with his hand and slid it between the other books on one of the shelves before taking down another book and reading it so that he “didn’t look suspicious,” he recalled. Smart kid!
After they found it, the library staff were so impressed by the book that they placed it in their official catalog. As of early February 2022, there were over 100 people on the waiting list to borrow it and we can only imagine that number has since grown.
Dillion has big plans to write more books, and with so many people supporting him, he is sure to feel brave enough to go for it!
