One of the best gifts that you can give to your community is an opportunity for delight and humor, and this “Little Free Peep Show” is a fantastic example. Little Free Libraries are one of the many iterations of the gift economy/ mutual aid networks that we’ve highlighted in previous Moment of Bliss posts, and this one in Seattle decided to take their gift to their neighborhood to another level.
The spring season brings with it bright colors, blooming plants and bunnies- in this case, the sugar-coated marshmallow variety. Peeps, for all their fluff, are a divisive confection, with some people hating them while others think they are a tasty treat. Whatever your feelings on eating them, I think we can all agree they’re kind of cute!
An artist in Seattle, Cristie Kearny, has been creating these impressive, hilarious dioramas since the early days of the pandemic as a way of keeping busy during lockdown while giving a little fun to her neighborhood. We are in awe of her seemingly endless well of creativity and inspiration, and we hope she has as much fun making them as her neighbors do in viewing them! It’s a great example of finding ways to have a positive impact on those around you using skills and materials you already have!
Follow her on Instagram (see below) or on reddit to see each new creation!
