This week’s Moment of Bliss is dedicated to the celestial event that happened this week, the Super Flower Blood Moon: a lunar eclipse that coincided with a “Super Moon”- that is, when the natural satellite is at its closest point to Earth. The addition of “Flower” to the name is due to it being the full moon of the month of May, while “Blood” refers to the reddish hue the eclipse causes the moon to take on during the peak.
The internet is flooded with beautiful pictures and videos of the action, and yours truly attempted to view the moment with the naked eye. Sadly, cloud cover prevented us from seeing it, but once we got home we were able to enjoy the plethora of images. When the weather threw us a curve ball, we still found a way to achieve our goal, and that gave the whole experience an unexpected perspective.
