In a world that is, at times, too cynical and too focused on making things bigger and bigger, artist and advocate Dr. Willard Wigan reminds us that small things can matter, too.

Using eyelashes, whiskers and even the hair from a fly, Willard creates incredibly tiny works of art on the head of a pin or in the eye of a needle. He often focuses on creating works with meaning, promoting causes like wild life protection and breast cancer research or celebrating Black History Month. In addition, he has been very open about his childhood struggles with learning differences and his foundation works to make arts education more engaging and inclusive for neurodivergent people.

Willard is a living example to us all to take time to appreciate the little things, and “be willing to make small changes to achieve big things”. His messages of hope, awe and resilience can be embraced by all of us as we look for ways big and small to impact the world around us.
