This month for our Nonprofit Spotlight, we wanted to shine a light on the work of an organization called BEAM. This is the Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective and now that I’ve learned about them, I can’t wait to share the incredible mission, volunteers and activists that make this organization possible.

Their mission is to break down the social and economic barriers to black mental health and create a dynamic community support system that benefits many people of color. This group has been very busy and has kept up supporting people through their toughest times. BEAM’s many workshops are mostly online, allowing a wider reach to their audience. This also helps break down physical barriers such as lack of transportation or other mobility issues. One of the organization’s stated goals is to provide community support systems, which in turn build stronger communities.

We here at Bliss love this wide spread community building focus. Teaching and reaching out to the communities that need these tools and empowering their use ensures more amazing people thrive in their community. We can’t wait to see more national support in local community building, Bliss fully supports BEAMs mission.
