Here at Bliss Auctions, we are big fans of the peer-to-peer fundraising strategy, charity streams, and we’ve been covering them in our blog for quite some time now.

And so we are excited to report that one streamer, CDawgVA aka Connor, is partnering with the platform Tiltify to host a hybrid auction to raise money for the Immune Deficiency Foundation. In addition to a small in-person gathering, people can tune in via his Twitch channel. You can check out the auction website for more info here. Or just watch the video below:

The auction will include items from many top-name streamers, including Fuslie and PewDiePie among others. Bidders can participate online via Tiltify using a brand new integration, or they can bid in-person if they pay $2,000 for a ticket, with that amount going towards an auction item if they win one.

Taking place at the historic Millennium Biltmore hotel in downtown Los Angeles on June 29th, 2023, this ground-breaking event will mark the first time a streamer has been able to host a live auction in this way. As far as we are aware, all previous live auctions in charity streams have depended on the honor system- as in, the winning bidder would need to donate the winning bid amount to the nonprofit after the lot closes, which the hosts then need to confirm. Often this results in a few unpaid invoices, which leads to reselling the lots or emailing the backup bidders. Not the most elegant solution.

We’re hoping that Tiltify solved this issue with their new integration, which would free the streamer from the hassle of follow up and provide a much more streamlined experience for the donors.

Ruth, our CEO and co-founder, actually provided some advice on auction logistics to Tiltify earlier this year in an informal consultation, and we can’t wait to see how they do!
